Two Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
